Buying a purebred
dog can be very confusing especially for the first time buyer. The
internet has allowed many successful breeders the opportunity to
showcase their lovely dogs and brag about their wins. It has made
accessibility to dedicated breed clubs, like this one, easier.
Unfortunately it has also allowed the puppy mills to have beautiful
websites, while continuing to breed unhealthy, sub-standard puppies in
unacceptable conditions. The internet has also spawned dozens of
alternative
registries. Most of these registries require little or no
documentation to register a dog. You could virtually register a
cat as a purebred Cavalier. Anyone with a printer can start their own
registry. So when someone tells you that their puppy has papers, please be sure that you are dealing with an American Kennel
Club breeder.
The buyer needs to beware. Please take the
time to read
"What is a Responsible Breeder?", so you can better
educate
yourself on the difference.
While all of
these breeders are members in good standing with both the Badgerland CKCSC
and
the American Kennel Club, and have also agreed to follow the American
Cavalier King Charles Club
Ethical Guidelines, the Badgerland CKCSC does not endorse, nor guarantee that all
of these breeders will meet your personal standards. You must
take the responsibility to do your own research, ask questions, and make
your own decisions. The following
list of Club members have indicated that they have puppies available at this time.
